About Kolbe House

Our Story

Kolbe House was created from prayers answered. Three friends grew tired of hearing the phrase, “There is a shortage of quality sober living beds in South Jersey.” Each of them had been personally impacted by the disease of drug and/or alcohol addiction—through their own experiences or those of people they loved. Rather than continue the conversation, they felt called to action.

What followed was the birth of Kolbe House Sober Living: a place intentionally built to offer structure, accountability, and genuine support to individuals seeking a new way of life. Kolbe House exists to provide more than housing—it offers a recovery-centered environment rooted in faith, responsibility, and real second chances.

Our Inspiration

Kolbe House is inspired by the life and legacy of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, a Catholic priest and Conventual Franciscan friar who lived from 1894 to 1941 in Poland. Saint Maximilian Kolbe deeply understood the human struggle with sin, suffering, and addiction, as well as the transformative power of God’s grace. He dedicated his life to serving others with courage, compassion, and self-sacrifice.

Beatified in 1971 and canonized in 1982, Saint Maximilian Kolbe is widely recognized as the Patron Saint of addiction recovery. His example of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love continues to guide the mission of Kolbe House. In his spirit, we strive to meet individuals where they are, while holding them to the standards necessary for lasting recovery and personal growth.

At Kolbe House, we believe recovery is possible when faith, structure, and community come together. Our mission is to help individuals rebuild their lives with dignity, purpose, and hope—one day at a time.
